Buying a New Home: Preparation List

Ready to buy a new home?  Take a look at this list to get started on the right path:

1. Meet with a Realtor -

Establish a relationship with a Real Estate professional so that you can familiarize yourself with the purchasing process.  Get your questions answered in advance.  Make sure you feel comfortable with what you can afford AND what you are willing to afford - the more prepared you are, the easier the process will be

2. Speak to Mortgage Lenders -

Know from the beginning what your budget is, what you are pre-approved for, and what you feel comfortable committing yourself to financially.  If you know this information before you start looking, it will keep your financial decisions businesslike and without emotion.

3. Determine & Prioritize Your Needs -

Often times finding the right home for you within your budget involves balancing your needs and wants in your next home.  Determine what your needs, wants, and preferences are. If you have some absolute must haves, make sure you see houses that have those, know in advance what you are seeing so that you don't fall in love with a home that is missing one of your must haves.

4. Educate Yourself with the Current Market -

Use the search & save features of our website to watch the neighborhoods in which you're hoping to buy.  Keep an eye on recently sold properties; develop a knowledge of market value in your search area. So much can be efficiently done online now to prepare yourself for the search process.

5. Visit the Neighborhoods You Are Considering -

Go in person and get a feel for the neighborhood(s) at various times of the day.  Find where the grocery store is located, look for parks, schools, and community features.  Make the commute to and from work so you know what it would be like to live there.  Do as much research as you can to experience the neighborhood and how it might "feel" to live there.

Let us know how we can help!  We are always happy to meet with you and advise appropriately.  Look around here on the website ( www.YeonasAndShafran.com ) to learn even more.
